"Lost" Nights in Paris?

While browsing the blogs, news, and gossip sites, I came across something so very ridiculous that I had to write to about it. Paris Hilton appararently doesn't like sex. WTF?

Yes, our notoriously well-filmed heiress has claimed that she likes to sit at home and watch "Lost" more than she likes to engage in more carnal activities. Hmmm...it's not that I don't believe her - sure it's possible for our libidos to fluctuate up and down - but Paris Hilton has made a living off of having sex and is she that desperate for publicity and attention that she would purposely act out sexually for the sake of her career and not because she was really a girl with a whopping sex drive? (Okay, I suppose that I don't really need to answer that).

Truth be known, I don't really care about Paris. But I do care about the idea that women - young women - are having libido issues at such young ages. And I do care that unless you are a postmenopausal woman, there's not much treatment for you. Second, the 'story' taps into some of my biggest societal concerns: sex sells, is presented in a misogynistic and exploitative manner, and loud populations in American have become anti-sex...but violence in all of its bloody glory is quite acceptable, whether on the battlefields or on television dramas.

So Paris Hilton may not be all that important in this story at all...but she represents a twisted need to be seen as 'highly sexualized' even if its not wanted nor warranted. And of course, in this sadly anti-sex place we are fighting to get out of...she also represents the problems with sexuality as a whole.
